Editorial Policy

Last updated: March 2026  ·  Questions: editors@linos.ai

This document describes how Linos NEWS operates editorially — what we publish, how we verify it, how we handle errors, and what role technology plays in our newsroom. Transparency with our readers is not optional; it is a foundational editorial commitment.

1. Editorial Independence

Linos NEWS makes editorial decisions independently of advertisers, funders, political parties, governments, and any commercial interest. No advertiser has the right to review, approve, or suppress editorial content. Sponsored content, when published, is clearly and prominently labeled as such and is produced separately from the editorial team.

Editors and reporters at Linos NEWS are not permitted to accept gifts, payments, travel, or hospitality from sources, PR firms, companies, or government entities that may be the subject of our coverage. Violations of this policy result in immediate editorial review.

2. Source Verification

Every substantive factual claim published by Linos NEWS must be supported by a minimum of two independent sources. "Independent" means the sources do not share a common origin — two articles both citing the same government press release, for example, do not constitute independent verification.

Source hierarchy

We prioritize sources in the following order:

  1. Primary sources: official documents, peer-reviewed research, court filings, regulatory disclosures, direct on-record statements from individuals with firsthand knowledge
  2. Established wire services and reputable publications — always cross-checked against primary material
  3. Expert commentary: named specialists who are identified with their relevant credentials
  4. Anonymous sources: used only when the information is significant, cannot be obtained by other means, and the source has been independently assessed as credible by an editor

When a story relies on an anonymous source, we disclose that fact in the article and explain why anonymity was granted. We do not use anonymous sources to make personal attacks on private individuals.

Breaking news

In fast-moving situations, we may publish an initial report based on a single verified source when the information is highly newsworthy and the source is reliable. Such stories are clearly labeled "Developing" and updated as additional verification is completed. Developing labels are removed once the story has been fully verified.

3. Accuracy and Corrections

We aim to be right the first time. When we are not, we correct the record promptly, transparently, and without attempting to obscure the error.

Correction procedure

  • Corrections are appended to the original article with the date of correction and a clear explanation of what was wrong and what the correct information is.
  • Significant factual errors are also noted in our internal editorial log.
  • We do not silently alter published articles to remove or change factual claims without noting the correction.
  • Clarifications (for ambiguity rather than error) are similarly disclosed.

How to report an error

Email editors@linos.ai with "Correction" in the subject line. Include the article URL, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and, if possible, a link or reference to the accurate information. We investigate every correction request and typically respond within 48 hours.

4. Conflict of Interest

Linos NEWS staff and contributors are required to disclose any financial interest, personal relationship, or prior affiliation that could create a conflict of interest with a story they are covering. Disclosed conflicts are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief; the reporter may be reassigned or the conflict disclosed to readers in the article.

Prohibited activities for editorial staff include:

  • Owning significant financial positions in companies covered on the business or technology beats
  • Working concurrently for any organization that is or may become a subject of our coverage
  • Participating in political campaigns or accepting advisory roles from political parties or governments
  • Accepting undisclosed gifts or compensation from sources

5. Breaking News vs. Analysis

Linos NEWS distinguishes clearly between three types of content:

News reporting

Factual accounts of events, based on verified sources. The reporter's opinions and interpretations are excluded. The goal is to answer: what happened, when, where, who was involved, and what is confirmed.

Analysis

Pieces labeled "Analysis" offer informed interpretation of events and their context, drawing on the reporter's expertise and on-the-record expert sources. Analysis reflects the reporter's reasoned judgment based on evidence — it is not opinion. Analysis is held to the same factual standards as news reporting.

Opinion

Opinion content, when published, is clearly labeled, attributed to a named author, and editorially separated from news reporting. Opinion does not reflect the institutional view of Linos NEWS unless explicitly stated.

6. AI Transparency Statement

Linos NEWS uses artificial intelligence tools to assist with editorial work. We believe readers deserve to know how:

We use AI tools to assist with research and initial drafts. All content is reviewed, edited, and approved by our editorial team before publication.

Specifically, AI tools at Linos NEWS are used to:

  • Monitor and surface news: scanning wire services, press releases, and official sources for emerging stories
  • Research assistance: gathering background information, summarizing source material, identifying relevant context
  • Initial drafting: generating first-draft text based on research materials that human editors then review, rewrite, and verify
  • SEO and metadata: suggesting headlines and descriptions optimized for search

AI tools at Linos NEWS are not used to:

  • Make editorial decisions about what to cover or how to frame stories
  • Publish content without human review
  • Generate quotes, fabricate sources, or invent facts
  • Replace the editorial accountability of named human editors

Every article published on Linos NEWS has been reviewed by a named member of our editorial team, who takes responsibility for its accuracy and fairness.

7. Privacy in Reporting

Linos NEWS respects individual privacy and applies a proportionality test before publishing private information: the public interest value of the information must outweigh the privacy cost to the individual. We follow particular care when reporting on:

  • Private individuals who have not sought public attention
  • Minors — who are not named except in exceptional circumstances with editorial approval
  • Victims of crime or trauma
  • Medical or financial information

Public figures — politicians, executives, celebrities, and others who have voluntarily entered public life — have a reduced expectation of privacy with respect to their exercise of public roles.

8. Advertising and Commercial Content

Linos NEWS accepts advertising. Advertising does not influence editorial decisions. Commercial relationships do not grant advertisers the right to review, approve, spike, or shape editorial content. Advertiser-funded content (native advertising, sponsored articles) is always clearly labeled as "Sponsored" and produced independently of the editorial team.
